Product Description

The ABB ACS150 is a cost-effective micro drive designed for quick installs and everyday speed control. It features scalar (V/Hz) control, a built-in keypad with rotary speed pot, and a simplified parameter set to commission in minutes. Typical uses include small fans/pumps, mixers, conveyors, gates, and OEM machine functions. Selection notes Voltage & power: choose the 200–240 V (often 1-phase in / 3-phase out) or 380–480 V three-phase class in the required kW/HP. Overload: normal-duty loads size one-to-one with the motor; for high-torque starts, check heavy-duty rating. I/O: discrete inputs for start/stop and speed selects, 1 analog input for reference, relay output for run/fault, plus analog output for monitoring (model-dependent). Braking: brake chopper is available on many ratings—add a resistor for fast decel (verify per variant). EMC & environment: integrated filtering on selected models; IP20 chassis, derate above typical panel ambients. This drive keeps things simple—no fieldbus modules to manage—yet covers the essentials for compact panels and repeatable OEM builds.

Frequent asked questions

Does ACS150 support fieldbus networks?

It’s a simple micro drive focused on terminal I/O. For built-in Modbus and more I/O, consider ACS355/ACS580.

Is a brake resistor supported?

Yes—many ratings include an internal brake chopper. Add an external resistor for fast deceleration (confirm your exact variant).

Can I use single-phase input?

On the 200–240 V class, many ACS150 variants accept 1-phase input and provide 3-phase output to the motor (check your model code).

What’s the quickest way to commission?

Use the built-in pot for speed, set motor nameplate values, choose a macro, and verify rotation/limits. Most OEMs finish setup in minutes.

When should I step up to ACS355 or ACS580?

If you need vector control, richer I/O, fieldbus, STO safety, or wider power ranges, move to ACS355/ACS580.
