One PowerFlex 525 platform, several cabinet frames
PowerFlex 525 is the Bulletin 25B base-drive family. This batch keeps the 380–480 V three-phase input and filtered N114 configuration consistent while stepping through the current and power range.
Frames A–C: compact machine drives
The selected 0.75–7.5 kW models span Frames A, B and C. They combine the common keypad, EtherNet/IP and STO functions with increasing output current and cabinet dimensions.
Frames D–E: larger loads and distinct duty ratings
The selected 11–22 kW normal-duty models use Frames D and E. The 15, 18.5 and 22 kW ND drives have lower heavy-duty motor-power ratings; these larger frames use screw mounting.
Match the motor, duty and installation
The motor-power label is only one part of drive selection. Keep the load’s duty, nameplate current, supply and cabinet conditions in the same decision.
- 01
Normal Duty is not always Heavy Duty
D030 is rated 15 kW ND / 11 kW HD; D037 is 18.5 / 15 kW; D043 is 22 / 18.5 kW. The smaller selected drives have equal listed ND/HD motor-power ratings.
- Match the motor nameplate current as well as kW or HP.
- Allow for the actual overload duty, temperature and carrier frequency.
- 02
480 V class with an integrated EMC filter
All first-batch models use a 380–480 V three-phase supply, IP20/open-type housing and N114 filtered configuration. N104 is unfiltered; the 18.5/22 kW 480 V entries are available only filtered.
- The wider PowerFlex 525 family also has other voltage and input-phase classes.
- Supply grounding affects the MOV and embedded-filter earth connection.
- 03
Choose the frame and ventilation together
Higher current increases the frame width, depth and heat load. Standard vertical IP20 installation allows full rated operation up to 50 °C; zero-side-clearance installation lowers that threshold to 45 °C.
- Frames A–C allow DIN-rail or screw mounting; D–E use screws.
- Operation above the no-derating temperature reduces available current.
- The high-temperature control-module fan kit is a separate option.
- 04
Built-in Ethernet and STO, optional topology and braking parts
One EtherNet/IP port and two-channel hardwired STO are standard. Dual-port/DLR communication uses an option card; dynamic braking uses a separately selected resistor with the included brake IGBT.
- Do not treat embedded STO as electrical isolation.
- PowerFlex 523/527, communication cards, resistors and packaged systems are not products in this collection.
