Product Description

ABB Tmax XT1 is the small-frame member of the Tmax XT MCCB family, sized for feeders, sub-mains, and motor circuits up to a 160 A frame. Choose 3-pole or 4-pole, and match your fault level using ABB’s breaking-capacity codes (e.g., B / N / S / H). Protection can be thermal-magnetic (TMD)—simple and robust—or Ekip electronic when you need adjustable long/short/instantaneous (and optional ground-fault) functions, event indications, or tighter selectivity. The XT platform supports fixed or plug-in mounting, front rotary handles, shunt/undervoltage releases, auxiliary contacts, terminal shrouds, motor operators, and communication kits—making panel integration and maintenance isolation straightforward. Devices are IEC 60947-2 compliant with typical voltage ratings up to 690 V AC, 50/60 Hz. Use ABB’s selection tables to pair frame + breaking-capacity + trip unit + In for your application and available fault current.

Frequent asked questions

What’s the difference between XT1B, XT1N, XT1S, and XT1H?

They are breaking-capacity codes. Each code has a different Icu/Ics rating at common system voltages (e.g., 400/415/440/690 V). Pick the code that safely exceeds your calculated fault level.

When should I choose Ekip electronic trips over TMD?

Use Ekip when you need wider adjustable ranges, LS/LSI/LSIG functions, better selectivity, event indication, or coordination with sensitive downstream devices. TMD is ideal for simple feeders with predictable loads.

3-pole vs 4-pole—how do I choose?

3P for three-phase systems without neutral switching. 4P when you must make/break the neutral with the phases (e.g., certain distribution schemes or harmonics management).
