Product Description

The ABB ACS355 is a workhorse machinery drive built for quick commissioning and repeatable OEM builds. It offers sensorless vector performance for dynamic torque response, a clear assistant keypad for guided setup, and application macros to get running in minutes. Flexible I/O handles discrete logic and analog references; plug-in options add PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profibus, DeviceNet, CANopen and more. Many ratings include an internal brake chopper for fast decel when paired with a resistor. Selection notes Voltage & power: choose 200–240 V or 380–480 V classes in the required kW/HP; three-phase input is standard (selected low-power variants support 1-phase—check your code). Duty / overload: size to motor FLA and required overload (light/normal/heavy). For high-torque starts or frequent braking, confirm the heavy-duty current and chopper availability. I/O & control: multiple DI/DO, AI/AO (0–10 V / 4–20 mA), PID, and speed/torque limits—enough for most stand-alone machines without a PLC. EMC / environment: IP20 chassis; EMC filtering is variant-dependent. Derate for high ambient/altitude and follow cable/grounding guidance. Safety: STO (SIL 3) available on many models (variant-dependent). Use ACS355 when you need compact size, quick setup, and robust vector performance without stepping up to the heavier ACS580/ACS880 platforms.
