Power Factor Calculation Guide
- True Power (P): Actual power consumed by the circuit (in Watts)
- Reactive Power (Q): Power stored and released by inductive/capacitive elements (in VAR)
- Apparent Power (S): Vector sum of true and reactive power (in VA), calculated as: S = √(P² + Q²)
- Power Factor (PF): Ratio of true power to apparent power: PF = P / S
- Phase Angle (θ): Angle between voltage and current waveforms: θ = arccos(PF)
- In impedance calculations: Z = √(R² + X²) where R is resistance, X is reactance, and Z is impedance
